A Brief Recap of Recent History

Many years prior, the treachery of a few rogue scions of Amber managed to damage the Pattern and bring Amber into war with the Courts of Chaos. Amber won the war and repaired the Pattern, but not without great cost. Prince Brand was the only member of the cabal to remain dedicated to the vision of recreating Amber in his own image. He and the Princess Deirdre were believed dead when they fell into the abyss of Chaos in the final battle of the Patternfall War.

More recently, Brand’s son Rinaldo tried to take out the royal family of Amber in revenge for his father’s demise. But this was only a prelude to a strange conflict between the raw forces of Order and Chaos, leading to an explosion that took a chunk out of the royal palace in Amber and the most important of the crown jewels ending up in the eye socket of some visiting dignitary’s daughter.

It’s been a few years since that whole explosion in the castle occurred. There were other hijinks, but they’ll take too long to explain.
